Shapes - Merge
The selected polygons are merged so that they make one object, the
surface of which is the sum of all the parts (Boolean OR).
Shapes - Subtract
All other polygons selected are subtracted from
the undermost polygon. This entails the other
polygons first being merged and then subtracted
from the polygon positioned under/behind all the
others. Holes are taken into account. Logically
this operation corresponds to the following
formula: A > (B1 | ... | Bn)
Shapes - Intersect
The selected polygons are joined into one single polygon
that corresponds to the intersection area (Boolean AND).
Only the area where all polygons overlap remains.
Choosing Shapes > Subtract and Shapes > Intersect also permits cutting parts out of a
bitmap. The illustration below shows examples.
