Chapter 3: Managing Text Documents With Writer
Calculating in Text Documents
Formulae in Text Documents
Pressing F2 opens the Formula bar. Clicking the formula icon in the formula bar opens
a submenu from which one can insert a formula.
The formula appears in the input line at the current cursor position. To specify a range of
cells in a table, select the desired cells with the mouse. The corresponding cell references
also appear in the input line. Enter additional parameters, as necessary, and click Apply to
confirm the entry. A formula can also be entered directly, if the appropriate syntax is known.
This is necessary, for example, in the Insert Fields and Edit Fields dialogues.
Note: The
SUM
function is only valid in formulae within a table cell.
