Chapter 5: Creating Presentations With Impress
How to Create a Basic Presentation
The following brief step-by-step example demonstrates different methods of how to create a
presentation document.
As with text documents, there are various ways to start creating a presentation:
• Open the Wizard Presentation by choosing File > Wizards > Presentation. The Wizard
starts automatically each time a new presentation is created. If desired, switch off the
automatic mode on the first page of the Wizard. The Wizard is described in detail in the
Help.
• By turning off the Wizard in Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org Impress > General, a
new, empty document (for example, by choosing File > New> Presentation) is opened.
• Alternatively open an existing presentation document that is modified and saved under a
different name.
• Or use one of the many templates available in the Templates and Documents dialogue.
Pressing Shift+Ctrl+N opens this dialogue or use File > New > Templates and
Documents.
For more information on the various dialogues used here, refer to Help.
